Where to buy motorcycle gear in Canada: Canadian, US or EU stores

For most gear a Canadian store is the cheapest place to buy in Canada, but not for helmets or intercoms. We took the 60 best-covered products in each of seven categories (419 with stock that ships to Canada on 2026-10-24) and asked which store had the lowest landed price, counting shipping, duty and brokerage. Canadian stores won 223 of 419 (53%), EU and UK stores 167 (40%) and US stores 29 (7%). Canadian stores led on gloves, jackets, pants and protection; EU and UK stores led on helmets (37 of 60) and communication gear (37 of 60), and narrowly on boots (29 of 60 against 27 for Canada). Revco and FortNine were the most frequent Canadian winners, and FC-Moto in Germany was the most frequent overseas winner. The store-by-store notes below show what each ships, what shipping costs and where it wins.

Which kind of store wins, by category

Number of products (of 419) where the lowest landed price to Canada came from a store in Canada, the United States or Europe, UK and other. Landed = item + shipping + duty + brokerage, tax excluded. ALLR data, 2026-10-24. Sample = 60 best-covered products per category; catalog sizes are each category's 'categoryTotal' on the same day (the helmets figure includes 322 spare parts).

That is the same direction as our earlier check on 2026-10-05, where a Canadian store had the lowest landed price on 61% of 199 products in five categories, but the samples differ (that one used the 40 most popular products per category and excluded communication and protection), so do not compare the percentages directly; see local, US or overseas?. The first version of this guide, run on 2026-10-23 with this same method, found 418 products at 39 retailers with Canada 52%, EU and UK 41% and US 6%. The sample drifts with the catalog (this run reaches 43 stores), so read a point or two of movement between those runs as sampling, not as a market change. Boots were the most contested category here (27 Canada, 29 EU, UK and other, 4 US).

Store by store

Stores with 100 or more products in the sample, by country. 'Products' = sample products (of 419) where the store has a new, in-stock listing that ships to Canada. Median shipping = median shipping charge in the landed total. Price index = median of (the store's landed price / the cheapest landed price for that product), so 1.00 would mean always cheapest. Wins = products where the store held the lowest total (ties count for each tied store). Delivery days are as stated by each retailer in ALLR's data. ALLR data, 2026-10-24.

Smaller stores (under 100 sample products) that still win in their niche: Champion Helmets in the Netherlands had only 65 sample products and a 28 to 42 day stated delivery time, but a price index of 1.09 and 20 wins (helmets 14, communication 6). Klim's own US store had 36 products, free shipping on 89% of them and 14 wins (pants 8, boots 2, gloves 2). Ottawa Goodtime Centre in Canada had 71 products and 19 wins (gloves 7, pants 4), and Dennis Kirk (US, 76 products, index 1.49) won 7, mostly protection. The table also shows stores with hundreds of products but few wins: Cycle Gear (US, 320 products, 1 win, median shipping CA$48.99), Motocard (Spain, 275 products, CA$93.73 median shipping, 4 wins) and Infinity Motorcycles (UK, 268 products, CA$346.26 median shipping, no wins).

How to read the table

Canadian stores show a price index of 1.06 to 1.20: on the typical product you pay 6% to 20% over the cheapest option, with no duty and free shipping at 91 to 100% of listings (Alpinestars CA, a one-brand store, is 53%). EU stores win on price but not on convenience: median shipping of CA$21.54 (Motardinn) to CA$61.14 (Motostorm) at the stores that win most is on top of duty and CA$25 brokerage (Motocard and Infinity Motorcycles charge CA$93.73 and CA$346.26 and rarely or never win), and stated delivery is 5 to 15 days, or 28 to 42 for Champion Helmets. SportsBikeShop in the UK shows free shipping but a price index of 1.26. US stores are the weakest route to Canada for riding gear in this sample: the large multi-brand US stores in the table have indices of 1.47 to 1.82 and few wins (Klim's own store is the exception, at 1.09). That is the opposite of the US-versus-Canada pattern riders expect, and our Europe-to-Canada and landed cost guides explain why duty, brokerage and shipping close the gap. Check the tax too: the GST, HST and PST guide covers what applies to your order.

What to buy where

  • Helmets: EU stores won 37 of 60, but a Shoei bought from overseas is outside Shoei's own-country warranty. Compare a Canadian listing first; see our helmet picks.
  • Jackets, pants and gloves: buy in Canada. Canada won 45 of 60 jackets, 35 of 60 pants and 41 of 59 gloves; FortNine and Revco lead. See the jacket and pants picks.
  • Boots: a coin flip (27 Canada, 29 EU, UK and other, 4 US). Check FC-Moto and the Canadian stores for your size.
  • Intercoms: EU, UK and other overseas stores won 37 of 60 and Canadian stores 17. See the Cardo vs Sena buyer's pick.
  • Protection (back protectors, airbags): Canada won 38 of 60; check back protector and airbag guide.
  • Timing: prices move with sales; see when gear is cheapest in Canada.

How we compiled this

Every figure here is computed from ALLR's public APIs on 2026-10-24, and the commands are in our report. First, we called `https://allr.io/api/catalog?category=<category>&country=CA&inStock=1&limit=100` for helmets, jackets, pants, boots, gloves, communication and protection, and kept the first 60 products per category in the catalog's default order (which favours products stocked by many retailers) that ship to Canada and have a price. That is a sample of the best-covered products, not all 55,091 products in those seven categories, so a store with a deep niche range may look smaller than it is. Then we called `https://allr.io/api/product-detail?id=<id>&country=CA` for each product and kept new, in-stock listings that ship to Canada. For each store we took its lowest landed total per product. We used no forum or social data. The methodology page describes how landed prices are built.

Common questions

Is it cheaper to buy motorcycle gear in Canada or the US?

In our sample, Canada. A US store had the lowest landed price to Canada on only 29 of 419 products (7%); the large US multi-brand stores' median shipping was CA$11.19 to CA$73.05 and their price index was 1.47 to 1.82, before tax. Duty and brokerage apply on import.

Is it cheaper to buy from Europe?

For helmets and intercoms, often. EU and UK stores won 37 of 60 helmets and 37 of 60 communication products. For gloves, jackets, pants and protection a Canadian store won more often. European totals include shipping, duty and a CA$25 brokerage fee in our data.

Which Canadian store is cheapest?

Revco had the most lowest-price wins (110 of 419) and the lowest price index (1.06) among multi-brand Canadian stores in our sample, followed by FortNine (91 wins, 1.11). Which one is cheapest depends on the product and size, so compare on the product page.

Do Canadian stores charge shipping?

Mostly not: 91% to 100% of listings at the Canadian multi-brand stores in the table showed free shipping to Canada. Alpinestars' own Canadian store showed free shipping on 53%.

How long does delivery take?

Stated delivery times were 1 to 7 days for Canadian stores, 1 to 14 for US stores and 5 to 15 for EU and UK stores in the table; Champion Helmets states 28 to 42 days. These are retailers' own estimates in ALLR's data, not measured.

Does buying overseas affect the warranty?

It can. Shoei's warranty page says it covers helmets bought in the buyer's own country. Check the maker's warranty terms before you buy a helmet, intercom or airbag from outside Canada.

Prices are a dated snapshot (ALLR data, 2026-10-24). For the buying sequence start at the buyer's guide hub; the Canada buying guide has the earlier 2026-10-05 sample.
